Moving Taos Forward.. Upgrading Our Infrastructure Our administration fought for, and received, over $123,000,000 in state and federal funding to address critical community needs. Solving problems without raising your taxes! AGING ROADS AND POTHOLES: PART OF THE PAST Collaborated with the county and received CDBG grant to rebuild the roofs covering the skating rìnk and rebuild the roof and walls serving the pool area. UTILITIES, WATER LEAKS, WATER EMERGENCIES: THE 50 YEAR SOLUTION We found a cost effective and permanent fix to re-occurring potholes and decaying roads through a process that repairs the road base and drainage issues and completely resurfaces and seals aging roads- rebuilding over 17 miles of Town-owned roads. Performed major renovation to the pool area HVAC, including a condensate boiler that upgraded pool water heat and the overall hot water system, Energy Management hardware and software, new compressors, coils and barrels for the environmental comfort system. Installed new shower valves in both women's and men's locker rooms. We've created zoned water distribution systems and installed a series of shut-off valves, GPS located all lines, installed computerized pressure/flow monitoring systems, and created a looped system to be able to prevent, detect and contain water leaks to a 1 block area in most cases. We modernized wells to provide 50-100 years of clean water without impacting our surface waters and acequias. We improved the efficiency of our regional sewer plant by 75%, upgraded equipment and installed solar to reduce demand chang- es and turn back electric to the community - stabilizing sewer, water and electric rates for the next 20 years through an agreement with KCEC. PASEO DEL PUEBLO SUR (US 64/68): SAFER, BETTER ALTERNATE ROUTÉS We've upgraded the pool area windows with glare resistant glass to help life guards better see swimmers, instituted swimming and life guard training programs for students and opened a masters swimming program for adults. Our community enjoys new, clean portable bathrooms, able to service multiple events throughout the region. We installed and maintained park sod on the main fields, new generators, new tents, and new staging equipment to support local car shows, fundraisers by non-profits, and community-based events in our parks and on the Plaza. The activity areas in both Baca and Kit Carson Park are being expanded with plans for a sports complex; including lighted tennis and pickle ball courts at the Y&F, and a new regional disc golf course, pump track, walking trails and skate parks at Salazar and Chamisa. We oversaw the redesign and upgrade of Paseo del Pueblo for the entire 1.9-mile length of the road - to include dedicated bike lanes and ADA compliant sidewalks on both sides of the road, safer crosswalks, improved lighting includ- ing historic lighting in the downtown, and the realignment and signalization of all dangerous intersections. PARKS & RECREATION: BIGGER AND BETTER EVERY YEAR We've modernized and upgraded the Youth and Family Center to include UV viral filtration of all pools. We're replacing compressors to the ice rink, and purchased a new $250,000 ice resurfacer. Keep the Best Mayor for the Job Mayor Dan Barrone. A Proven Leader. A Stronger Taos.
