Affordable Housing Rising inflation has dramatically impacted our housing market, making renting or buying a home difficult for hard working families. I'm committed to ensuring there's affordable housing for everyone in our beautiful community. What we've accomplished: * Taos was first in the state to limit the number of short term rentals - from 600 to 120 - adding a fee that goes to developing affordable housing; * We donated two completed houses and 30 developed lots to Habitat for Humanity to create dozens of first time home ownership opportunities; * We've developed a 72 Unit (1, 2 and 3 bedroom) multi-family affordable rental project on Herdner Road - at $13,0000,000 - that's the largest affordable housing project in the region. What's next: We are currently partnering with TSV, a newly funded private partner liaison, to create housing opportunities that are on the Chamisa Verde 19-acre parcel and the old Mary Medina building site to create housing opportunities that align with our culture and values, protect our fragile environment and make our community more inclusive and prosperous. As Mayor, Chair of the NCRTD and the Enchanted Circle Council of Governments - I have the relationships and experience to help solve this challenging issue - and together we can make a real difference for the people ofTaos. TOGETHER, MOVING TAOS FORWARD! PAID POUTICAL ADVERTSING.
