TAOS SOIL A WATER CONSERVATION DISTRICT Taos Soil & Water Conservation District Wisbes Everyome a Happy and Safe Thankegiving STATE OF NEW MEXICO EXECUTIVE OFFICE SANTA FE, NEW MEXICO Proelamation WHEREAS, soil and water conservation districts promote responsible management and conservation of natural resorces on all lands; and WHEREAS, these districts have efectively reached owt to communities to teach the walue of natural resources and encourage conservation efforts, and WHEREAS, each year, soil and water conservation districts work with leaders in agricultre, environment, education, and other industries to drive voluntary, incentive-driven programs that benefit all citizens, and WHEREAS, nearly 3,000 such districts nationwide assist in stewardship responsibilities and esure the work of conserwation is maintaineud ar the local level; and WHEREAS. New Mexico's 47 soil and water conservatrion districts amplib the common voice of federal, state and local governments, tribes and over 10,000 farmers and ranchers, that are the stewards of over 77 million acres of forest, range, cropland, pasture and other lands in the state; and WHEREAS, since 1946, New Mexico's soil and water conservation districts have successfully execuled the staffing networking, funding policy. programs, influence, and governance to be the renowned resource and delivery system for achieving conservarion directly with landowners. NOW THEREFORE, I, Michelle Lajan Grisham, Governor of the State of New Mexico, do hereby proclaim November 9. 2021 as: "The 75th Anniversary of Conservation District Success" throughout the state of New Mexico.
