CREATING A SAFE AND HEALTHY ONE STEP CLOSER ENVIRONMENT FOR OUR COMMUNITIES to 100% Daytime Solar Energy by 2022 KIT CARSON Electric Cooperative Internet - Propane In this challenging time of COVID-19, Kit Carson Electric, Internet and Propane are proactive in providing and maintaining critical infrastructure to our communities. Accomplishments & Contributions 150 student internet connections Continuing to clear electric lines to protect from possible forest fires Set-up 22 Wi-Fi hotspots for students, seniors and low-income families. No residential electric disconnects during Health Emergency Voluntarily No disconnects for propane customers KCI took the FCC Keep Americans Connected pledge and did not disconnect internet customers Reduced propane prices from $2.30 per gallon to $180 per galon during COVID-19 Pandemic Immediately adapted our operations to ensure the safety of our employees and communities Provide semi-monthly assistance to Shared Table and St James in delivering food supplies to families Kit Carson Internet (KCI) has appled for an emergency grant in the amount of S677,000 through the New Mexico Public Regulation Commission to fund Fiber to the Home for the low to moderate-income students and Tribal members from Taos and Picuris Pueblos. Kit Carson now has 20 Megawatts of Solar Coordinating Taos men's food sheliter distribution. Donating time and in-kind services for local non- profits in the service territory Continuing KCECS buildout of a sustainable future Received NM Environment Department eiectric vehicle settlement grant in the amount of $200,000 for EV chargers Constructed a SMw Solar Array that wil provide renewable energy to approximately 1500 homes at "KCEC HAS BEEN WOROING TOWARDS PROVIDING RESILIENT, RENEWABLE ENERGY FOR ALL OUR MEMBERS EOUALLY SINCE 2002. The importance of this work is to demonstrate that renewable energy can be technically integrated into a rural grid in a way that the Town of Taos Water Treatment Center Planned projects for 2021 including the construction of 15MW solar array in Taos and 6MW solar array in Angel Fire Planned battery storage projects in Taos and Angel Fire Coordinated with TCF to locate food delivery drivers for Taos County Seniors Tested our employees and the Board of Trustees for the safety and wel-being of our families and allows all members access to renewable energy, rather than orly a few members. This project will provide a pathway for other rural cooperatives, municipalities and communities to enter into the ployment of distributed energy resources given the fast pace of the changing market and member desires KIT CARSON communities -Luis A Reyes.
